The Bowen Collection consists of some 270 cubic feet of files, documents, publications, photographs, and memorabilia. Much of the material reflects Bowen's interest and expertise in agricultural matters. He served on three House of Representatives subcommittees: Agriculture, Merchant Marine and Fisheries, and Foreign Affairs. The Eugene Butler papers contain the personal and business correspondence of Progressive Farmer editor-in-chief Eugene Butler. There is also a small amount of correspondence related to his father, Dr. Tait Butler, particularly in regard to a memorial plaque for the Tennessee Agricultural Hall of Fame.
